Phyllis Elizabeth (Perry) East, 90, of Staunton passed away on Saturday, June 17, 2017 at the home of her daughter, Linda.

Born June 2, 1927 in Raphine, she was the daughter of the late Chester C. Perry and Lena (Butler) Snead.

Phyllis was a member of Westwood Baptist Church, Waynesboro. She was employed by Western State Hospital where she worked as an Psychiatric Practical Nurse until her retirement in 1983. Phyllis Elizabeth (Perry) East, 90, of Staunton passed away on Saturday, June 17, 2017 at the home of her daughter, Linda.

Born June 2, 1927 in Raphine, she was the daughter of the late Chester C. Perry and Lena (Butler) Snead.

Phyllis was a member of Westwood Baptist Church, Waynesboro. She was employed by Western State Hospital where she worked as an Psychiatric Practical Nurse until her retirement in 1983. Phyllis strongly believed in salvation and by grace alone she was a fearless servant of Jesus Christ and was never ashamed of the Gospel. She knew her hope and future were rooted in Heaven where eternal ecstasy awaited her. To God be the glory for providing her way through the death, burial and resurrection of God's only Son.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Preston Christian East on February 24, 2017; as well as four sisters and two brothers.

Survivors include her daughters, Linda E. Mahler and husband, Marvin of Staunton and June E. Puckett and husband, Ed of Fishersville; grandchildren, Lisa Tolbert and husband, Todd, Eric Quinonez and wife, Nina, Marvin Mahler III, Bryan Wimer, David Puckett and wife, Brandy and Dakota Puckett; 14 great grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as special friend, Sylvia.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at Augusta Memorial Park with Pastor John Sullivan and Pastor John Hamric officiating. Those who plan to attend are asked to meet directly at the cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 618 W. Main St.
