Walter William Weaver, 75, of Waynesboro passed away on May 16, 2017.

Born April 13, 1942 in Staunton, he was the son of the late Frances Weaver.

Walter was a kind and decent man who enriched all of our lives so much when he became a part of this family. He served in the US Navy from 1959 until 1963 and was on aboard the USS Hyades during the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962. Walter was a history enthusiast, particularly the Civil War and was a fan of Janis Joplin and Jimi Hendrix....

Walter William Weaver, 75, of Waynesboro passed away on May 16, 2017.

Born April 13, 1942 in Staunton, he was the son of the late Frances Weaver.

Walter was a kind and decent man who enriched all of our lives so much when he became a part of this family. He served in the US Navy from 1959 until 1963 and was on aboard the USS Hyades during the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962. Walter was a history enthusiast, particularly the Civil War and was a fan of Janis Joplin and Jimi Hendrix. Prior to retirement, he had been employed by Augusta Health Hospital.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his brother, Charlie and stepdaughter, Joyce Tolleson.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 27 years, Kathleen Weaver and beloved dog, Gabby; stepchildren, Kenny Megginson, Judy Pollard, Jimmy Megginson and wife, Roxie and Trudy Wood and husband, Alan; grandchildren, Kenny Megginson, Jr. and wife, Cassie, Samantha Clark and husband, Donnie, Caleb Megginson and wife, Michelle, Amanda Morelli and husband, Kris, Seth Megginson and Aaron Pollard; great grandchildren, Brandon Clark "his boy", Tyler Lawhorne, Jacob Clark, Jonah Clark, Raylan Megginson, Ryann, Madelyn, Keegan and Hayden Morelli.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 618 W. Main St., with Pastor Jerry Cline officiating.

The family would like to thank the Staunton VA Medical Center, Americare (especially Summer Reitz), Augusta Health (especially Bobby McLain) and Roanoke Hospitals, Hospice of the Shenandoah, King's Daughters and Birch Gardens Assisted Living Center for Walter's care. The family would also like to thank the employees of Weasie's Kitchen, Shifflet's Barber Shop, FasMart, Waffle House and Family Dollar for their compassion shown to our family and Walter.
